In 2015, Dr. Gould was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Gould is the first Nurse Anesthetist of color inducted as a member into the Academy. In 2018, Dr. Gould was the recipient of the Trailblazer Award from the National Black Nurses Association.

 

Most notably, Dr. Gould was the recipient of the 2019 American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Achievement. In August 2021, Dr. Gould was inducted in the inaugural cohort as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. Published works include: Historical Underpinning to Diversifying Nurse Anesthesia Programs: A Model of Success (Teaching and Learning in Nursing Journal, 2021) and Addressing Structural and Systemic Barriers in Nurse Anesthesia Programs: Recommendation to Eliminate the GRE and Adopt Holistic Admissions (Nursing Outlook Journal, 2022).

 

In May 2022, the 7th edition of Nurse Anesthesia textbook by Nagelhout & Elisha, Dr. Gould is the contributing author of Chapter 3, Patient Center Care and Cultural Competence in Nurse Anesthesia.

 

In October 2022, Dr. Gould was selected as an American Academy of Nursing Edge Runner on an innovative evidenced-based nursing model, Immersion Model for Diversifying Nurse Anesthesia Programs. This is the first time a CRNA was recognized as a premier nursing model with the prestigious American Academy of Nursing.

 

Recently, served as the Chair of the Equity, Diversity, & Inclusivity Committee for the American Academy of Nursing and the Co-Chair, Education & Communication Innovation Committee, American Nurses Association

 

In August, 2023, featured in The Future of Nursing 2020 – 2030: Global Applications to Advance Health Equity book by Susan Hassimiller and Kenya Beard, in Chapter 3: Diversifying the Nursing Workforce by Dr. Sheldon Fields and Dr. Mitchell J. Wharton wrote extensively on the Immersion Model for Diversifying Nurse Anesthesia Programs. 


Dr. Gould was honored as the distinguished recipient of the prestigious 2024 American Nurses Association Team-led Innovation Award, a testament to his remarkable contributions and leadership in healthcare innovation.


She is married with three children and a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated.
