A crna•ish testimony from Andre Angelia, Nurse Anesthesia Resident at Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia!

This past weekend, Andre served on the Nurse Anesthesia Student Panel at the Diversity CRNA 2025 Workshop at Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia. In 2023, as an ICU Nurse, he attended a Diversity CRNA Event at Samuel Merritt University before applying to nurse anesthesia programs. A full circle moment.

What an incredible opportunity it was to volunteer for the 67th Diversity CRNA Conference @kpsa_crna. It really was a full-circle moment as two years ago, in 2023, I was in the exact same seat as the 100+ attendees looking to learn more about being a CRNA and applying to CRNA school.

As a first-year SRNA, I can attest to the advice dished out this weekend about the application process. While it may not be the easiest path, we were made to do hard things and we’re better because of it.

It was such an honor being able to give back to the community that believed in me from the start. I absolutely loved chatting with future (and yes I mean future) SRNAs and being on the SRNA panel. Thank you, Dr. Lena Gould, for forging the path for me and countless others. It was so great to finally meet you after all these years of being connected on this platform! You are truly a legend.

As a Nurse Anesthesia Resident, how do you handle stress from school and life?

Ashley Banks (National University) deal with stress by learning a new song and using the power of music therapy to balance excellence & joy.

The countdown is real for Paulene Noseñas as an Advent Health DNAP University Nurse Anesthesia Resident completing her doctoral journey!

I have 3 DAYS left of my clinical training!! I’m so emotional!

Bravo!

And, just like that, Soncerea Crowder, BSN, RN, CCRN was accepted into a DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program!

Becoming a part of the 3%.

All I have to say is God is good. So good. I have worked tirelessly to have this moment and am so grateful for the family, friends and mentors that have supported me along the way. I’m literally speechless and am looking forward to the journey. Thank you.

Forever grateful,

And, just like that, Loriel Lozano, BSN, RN, CSRN, CCRN-CMC was accepted into the University of Puerto Rico Nurse Anesthesia Program!

In 2023, as an ICU RN, Loriel attended a Diversity CRNA Information Session & Airway Simulation Lab Workshop at the University of Pittsburgh before applying to CRNA Programs!

And, sometimes we read assigned chapters with phone off and social media presence dimmed dramatically.

In 2002, with small children while enrolled in the nurse anesthesia program, I could not afford this book and borrowed it from classmates on weekends.

In this edition, I wrote Chapter 3...Remember this...One day it will be worth the sacrifice.
