APRIL 2025

DIVERSITY CRNA NEWSLETTER

Dear Diversity CRNA Family,

In April as we reflect on the momentum we have built; I am filled with gratitude and optimism for what lies ahead. We have officially kicked off our 2025 main programming with the successful completion of our 67th Diversity CRNA Information Session & Airway Simulation Lab Workshop at Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia. It was an energizing experience that reaffirmed our mission and reminded us why our work is more critical now than ever.

We are truly turning a corner.

With the addition of new CRNA volunteers and board members, we are ushering in a wave of fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and renewed energy. Continuing in our legacy, these new additions also have a shared passion for mentorship, advocacy, and the elevation of diverse voices in nurse anesthesia. Their leadership will continue to guide our initiatives into the future, the momentum of our reach and impact.

This progress comes at a time when our mission is being challenged. The current administration’s attack on DEI efforts, especially regarding federal funding at universities, has created uncertain terrain. While tariffs impact pricing and availability of some of our offerings. However, we will not be deterred. Diversity CRNA will continue to pivot, push forward, and remain a lighthouse for those navigating their path into nurse anesthesia. Our resilience is rooted in purpose, and our community is our greatest strength.

Please be on the lookout for next month’s newsletter, where we will introduce some of the incredible new CRNA volunteers who will be leading several of our key committees starting in May 2025. Their stories and strategies will inspire you—just as they have inspired us.

And do not forget: event registration for our next three weekend events—at Rosalind Franklin University, Emory University, and Midwestern University—will be opening soon. If our first event is any indication, you will not want to miss what is coming next.

These transformative workshop events provide an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience, connect with current CRNAs and SRNAs, and solidify your path toward nurse anesthesia. You must be registered to attend these events, no walk-ins accepted. Mark your calendars:

We are also excited to host the Diversity CRNA Personal Statement & Resume Writing Workshop on Saturday, May 3, 2025—registration is open and filling fast!

Thank you for your continued support and unwavering belief in our mission. Together, we are not only changing the face of nurse anesthesia—we are shaping its future.

In solidarity...
