Introducing the Inaugural Doctoral Class of 2025 from the Nurse Anesthesia Program at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus!
This extraordinary group of pioneers has spent the last three years mastering the science and art of anesthesia, overcoming challenges, pushing boundaries, and setting a new standard for advanced practice nursing on the island and beyond.
As the first DNP cohort, they represent the future of anesthesia care in Puerto Rico—highly trained, deeply compassionate, and fiercely committed to patient safety and clinical excellence.
We couldn’t be prouder of all they’ve accomplished. Wherever they go, they carry the legacy of our program and the spirit of Puerto Rican resilience and excellence with them.
Felicidades, Clase del 2025!
The best is yet to come.

Jessica Patrice Plunkett, ICU Nurse
University of Tennessee Health Science Center
In 2021, I took a leap of faith—leaving my job during the height of COVID to pursue what felt like an impossible dream. Despite doubts and discouragement, I made a five-year plan to become a CRNA and committed to every bold step, including going straight into the ICU after nursing school. Today marks the first day of nurse anesthesia school—the start of a journey I mapped out when no one else believed it was possible. To anyone chasing a dream that feels too far or too big: your determination is more powerful than any doubt.
Trust your plan, trust your timeline, and never stop betting on yourself
